Welcome to Springtown!

"An online treasure trove!"

Springtown Camp, now known as Springtown Industrial Estate, was formally an American navy base in Derry during the second world war. After the Americans vacated in 1946,almost immediately hundreds of families, totalling thousands of people moved en masse to the Camp and began living in the tin huts as squatters.

This website tells the remarkable story of Springtown Camp and the families who grew up there.

We sincerely would like to invite all of Springtown Camp's  ex-residents, families and friends, both at home and abroad to join our online community .We would like to extend that invitation to our ex-patriots from around the world to register at the springtowncamp.com forum where you can meet up with old friends and make new ones, share memories and more.

We have lots of literature, photographs, music and videos for you to look at. If you have any material you would like to share with us please contact us.
